Hi everybody

Remember this game?.....
.

Well guess what, this nostalgic favourite is making a come back!

Games are being played with some regularity from Monday to Friday from 6 PM till late. We have had a great showing this week, with lots of old and familiar faces.
Pop in and say hi, even if you don't intend on taking the game back up, it would be nice to see where you are all at.

If you no longer have installs:

XR
You can pick up XR release client 3 from here. This is now the premier savage gaming experience with new textures/props/maps/animations and soon to be coming in the full release pretty much a complete overhaul of the engine.

SFE*
While most people experience a drop in ping as well as improved frame rates, XR is incompatible with a few graphics cards, so if you find yourself having troubles with the latest version, you can download the old SFE* (aka SEP) here.

MAC
Those of you using Macs can pick up a ported copy by following this thread.

*Development News*

In terms of what is currently happening in XR development, there has been some really exciting progress. The XR devs have been hard at work and looking in the not too distant future (read some time this year) XR will be looking at an official 1.0 release, which will see a massive over haul of the game. New renderers; completely redone standalone editor; a further implementation of triggers and map scripting; the release of Savage heroes, a Savage/Heroes of Newerth mod; as well as loads of additional props textures and little tweaks throughout the game. The game will have never before looked so good, and the flexibility of the engine, coupled with the additional powers given to mappers means that potential for mods and further gaming styles and play is virtually limitless.

*Marketing*

On top of this, EU player Tirza along with other dedicated players have been working on improving the savage marketing aspect. As a game that is no longer supported by the original developers, it is important that this game is still advertised in various channels. Tirza has been working tirelessly to develop some premium videos and viral clips for you tube and other medium, meaning that upon full release of XR we can expect a new influx of players to the game.

So my old friends...and enemies :P Keep your eyes peeled and your links directed to aus-newerth for all your savage needs.

If K-Rudd gets around to giving me $4500 or whatever it is, I'll buy a computer that actually works. Then....then its savage time.

Sig removed Jag: Stop making sigs that make the forums look retarded.

Happy: k.

I have yet to see any of these games on the australian server...  it always seems dead.  On the other hand it seems like 30% of the aussie players are on the USA server instead.

If you see a bunch of aussie players on the US server, why not ask them to start a game in aus? The problem is, unless someone sits in the server in the first place, people like yourself never end up joining. You get 20 people on the same day checking the server list and saying to themselves "no one is on, it's dead again" when all it would take is for a couple of you to join in order to get a game started.

The amount of truth here is hilarious. I'll be honest - I do the exact same thing. 0 people on, I wont bother joining. I'll start sitting in the server alt-tabbed from now on.
